No matter how good a manager you are there will always be situations you encounter that are new.

Most of the time you will be able to draw on your expertise and what you know works - and that will be sufficient to deal with what confronts you.

However there may be times when what we know to work does not seem to work! On such occasions we can handle this in different ways - but unless you get a clear picture of what you need to do there is a good chance that the situation will get worse rather than better.

Using this solution focused approach means that you will discover ways of dealing with the situation no matter what that might be.

The most common situation that I am used for is to do with people - and that is where my expertise lies.
